Ehler's Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD)

As health care providers we are often taught “when you hear hoof beats, think of horses, not zebras”.  In other words, the most likely diagnosis is usually the correct one.  As people with EDS and HSD can attest, having a rare condition often means slipping through the cracks or not being well understood.

At One Physiotherapy, we strive to be a source of expertise in an area often not well understood in health care settings.

About EDS and HSD

and how physiotherapy can help

Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) is a group of disorders causing hypermobility in joints.  Ehler's Danlos Syndromes are inherited disorders that affect the connective tissues in your body - like skin, joints and blood vessels.   In both conditions, what is commonly seen is overly flexible joints, resulting in persistent pain.

Physiotherapy can be key to managing this.  We can help you improve body awareness, teach you how to protect your joints and manage your symptoms.
